Queen Mary's Association
The Queen Mary’s Association (QMA) is our very active and valued parents’ association. The school is proud of and deeply grateful for the fundraising, community spirit, and voluntary work contributed by its members.
Automatic Membership for All Parents
When a child joins Queen Mary’s Grammar School, their parents automatically become part of the QMA. Members are warmly encouraged to:
- Attend and support school events
- Enjoy the social side of the school community
- Join one of the working committees that help organise QMA events
Most committees coordinate just one event per year, ensuring the workload is shared across many volunteers. Parents can meet committee members and express interest in joining at the start of the academic year.
What the QMA Helps to Fund
Each year, the QMA raises significant funds, often exceeding £20,000, to benefit pupils. These contributions allow us to provide opportunities and facilities that could not be covered by standard government funding.
Projects supported by QMA include:
- Maintenance of the Farchynys Welsh Centre
- Purchase of a School Minibus
- Installation of laser cutters in Design Technology
- New cricket nets and covers
- Refurbishment of the School Library
- Extension of the Welfare Hub
- Contributions toward the Future Sport @ QMGS campaign

Many of the “extras” that enrich school life are only possible thanks to the continual generosity of QMA volunteers—meaning your child directly benefits from the efforts of parents’ past and present.
Why Your Support Matters
QMA events are more than just fundraising; many also provide valuable services or strengthen the school community. We warmly encourage all parents to get involved.
Even if you cannot help run an event, attending and supporting the activities is just as important—and greatly appreciated by both the QMA and the School.
